Today we had our first lunch (outside of our house or any house) of the year and we chose the Trattoria Don Lisander in the Cuzco area. It was highly recommended by friends and I already had my eye on it after reading in the Madridyyo blog.
As we waited for our started they brought some slices of bread with garlic butter...yumieee! Then came the Provolone cheese with tomato sauce which was delicious and we eat it with a foccacia bread with a touch of pesto. So far so good.
Then we ordered two pizzas: the traviata (simple cheese and ham) and the Mozzarella di Bufala with arugula. The great things about their pizzas is the light and crip dough combined with a very tasty tomato sauce. The ingredients on top you know are very fresh which make Don Lisander's pizzas one of the best of Madrid.
I tasted the pizzas but my dish was actually the fresh gnocchi with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, it was great but it lacked more punch in the flavour I think maybe it need some meat or bacon.
Somehow we still managed to order dessert that we shared, I'm not a big fan of italian desserts so I ordered the chocolate cake with a Nutella like filling, it was quite dense and sweet that I wasn't able to eat it. We paid more a less 20€ per person, it is quite a reasonable price for what we ate ( and for Madrid prices) I will comeback for more of that great focaccia bread and pizzas.
